TRUHAVEN'S MY FAIR LADY CD (PIPPA) AND MYSELF.
Pippa was our long awaited
first borzoi. Chosen as for both her temperament and
conformation to be Islehaven's foundation bitch, she has
left her mark on the breed -- and this with only one litter
to her credit.
A substantial girl at over 30 inches, Pippa was as true a
mover as theycome. Unfortunately she suffered with a
bumbling novice handler who preferred Obedience to the
Breed ring so she never really competed in Conformation
beyond a few embarrassing times when her handler undermined
her honest efforts. The one exception to this was Pippa's
Best in All Breed Match as a lanky two year old in Oak
Harbor when her promise somehow outweighed the liabilities
of her hander. Soon after that she was allowed to
concentrate on Obedience competition, and soon acquired her
CD.
In 1995 she was bred to Jerry (Moore) White's lovely male
Ch Morozova Stillwater Massai, and produced a gorgeous
litter of 10, co-bred with Dottie Trulock. This, the Fred
Astaire Movies litter, was one of the most colorful litters
we have ever seen, with two red sables, two red and whites,
two tri-blacks, two blue sables and two light cream and
whites. Though merely three from the litter were ever
shown, due to various circumstances, those three were
impressive enough and went on to represent the litter well
(Ch Truhaven's Silk Stockings, MBSS Ch Truhaven's Midas
Run, and Ch Truhaven's Isle of Blue Skies JC. )
Much to our great disappointment after this promising first
litter, Pippa developed a serious uterine infection post
partem, and it was decided to spay her for her long term
health. Devastatingly, she died immediately post spay
surgery. Her loss was a great one, only partly compensated
for by the continued presence her at Islehaven of her
daughter, Ch Truhaven's Isle of Blue Skies JC, and
grandsons Truhaven's Tradewind and Ch Truhaven Apollo of
the Isles. Her legacy does live on.
